Katherine L. Poehnert, M.Ed. Psych., PCC
Professional Coach
Certified NLP practitioner

“Kathy has been my life coach for almost 2 years. Through her relaxation techniques, leading questions, and challenging exercises, she has led me to bring balance to life and understand myself. As a manager, a mother, a friend and a daughter, I am able to perform more effectively, listen more attentively, trust my gut, and accept recognition. Our sessions are perhaps the most constructive 45 minutes of the week!”

Coaching Services

WHAT COACHING IS:

  • A process that takes individuals and businesses from where they are to where they want to be by assessing current challenges, clarifying goals, removing obstacles, and forwarding action.

  • Predicated on the core belief that every individual and organization has the answers within to achieve desired outcomes.

  • Results oriented, and process driven.

  • Based on the belief that effective and long lasting change occurs from the inside out, both individually, and organizationally.

  • A confidential relationship utilizing, accountability, common sense, empathy, and deep, intuitive listening, to achieve remarkable results!

WHAT COACHING IS NOT:

  • Therapy -
Unlike traditional therapy, the main focus of coaching is not on “healing emotional wounds” from childhood. Coaching places emphasis on learning from the past only as it pertains to present challenges and future goals.

  • Consulting -
Consultants are generally hired to “fix “problems, or offer solutions, based on their expertise in a specific field, but are usually not actively involved in the process of change. Coaches, rather than giving advice or answers, help the client to access the answers from within, and then support them throughout the change management process.

  • Mentoring -
Coaches do not use their own experiences as a model for the client’s success, but rather honor the individuality of every journey, and empower the client to follow their own unique path.

WHY COACHING WORKS:

  • It is designed to quickly and efficiently get to the essence of a matter
  • It focuses on strength, rather than weakness
  • It is supportive non-judgmental, and validating
  • It utilizes accountability to increase follow-through
  • It encourages creative problem-solving
  • It clarifies goals, identifies obstacles, forwards action
